What is an internet business? Just like the conventional newspaper, magazine, radio and television, the internet is a new form of marketing medium. A marketing medium is what the merchants used to deliver the messages about their product to the public. However, all the universal business and marketing principles that apply off-line are applicable on-line as well.
The differences between off-line and on-line marketing come down to cost, speed and ease of execution of a campaign. Internet marketing is typically easier, quicker and more cost-effective for the average person. The internet is also an “Information Highway” and this is one of the main reasons people go on-line.
Internet users want to find information that solves their problems that affect them personally. For example, many people go on-line to look for information about weight loss. The type of information they want could be anything from “how to’s” to product review and testimonials.
The reason people find the internet so useful because of a few reasons:
1) Laziness - They do not want to spend too much time searching for information.
2) Urgency - They want the information right now.
3) Perceived value - Information packaged into a product gives them impression that it is comprehensive and high quality.
4) Passion - There are certain niche markets where the customers are very devoted to their special interest. They will spend money on almost anything related to their passion.
The internet business consist of 3 parts. The “Buyer” who is looking for information. The “Seller” who has the information. And the “Internet” as the medium where the buyer finds the seller or vice versa. The internet also offers the option of money transaction between the buyer and seller. The main advantage of the internet business compared to a conventional business is the speed of the transaction.
The internet has evolved throughout the years. More and more people are logging on to find information and to buy product. It has become an essential tool for business today and the demand for information and product online is increasing everyday.
