Before an Ezine Publishing venture becomes really profitable, it should first make ways to build a big readership. The more readers you have, the more advertisers will voluntarily approach you to pay for product/service postings in your Ezine.
Accumulating a big readership literally takes time and effort. That’s effort in producing quality content and layout that’s published on a regular basis (timing).
To provide quality content, requires having had the time to identify what themes your Ezine shall contain, who writes and edits its well-written and well-edited/-proofread articles, what photos or graphics shall accompany each article, and how will everything be laid out for every issue.
Visuals that you use in your Ezine should be professionally-taken by photographers or cleanly-drawn by graphic artists. These are costs that you must invest in as these will define the quality of the output. Caution should be taken in using ready-made clip-arts and photographs as royalty issues may arise, something you wouldn’t want to be faced with.
In summary, a profitable Ezine begins following the domino effect. That is, everything starts with the planning of the identity of the themes, content-preparation, publishing, circulation, more content-creation, more publishing…until you get the right number of subscribers for you to offer ad spots in the electronic magazine or to experience advertisers scampering to get a spot in the magazine.
The formula for a profitable Ezine, experts say, involves top quality content that’s easily accessible and affordable to readers. You may want to trim down with your initial costs so that you can provide the electronic magazine at cheaper subscription rates. However, you shouldn’t totally rely on cutting costs if the quality of the magazine will suffer, which will later on affect your readership and profits.
