7 Tips On How To Develop Your Personal Dream In Later Years

1. Get in touch with those activities that give you a sense of fulfillment

Finding activities that satisfy you personally is important whether you are approaching retirement or in mid-life. These are activities that keep you motivated and organized.

2. Physical health and well-being is a ‘must’ to achieve your dream

There are three levels in this category:

1) physical well-being;

2) mental wellness;

3) personal life meaning.

If these three areas are synchronized you will have no health worries. The bottom line is that you must care for yourself to develop vitality and zest in your life.

If your attitude is to put your health in others’ hands without thinking of a more natural solution, you may do more harm than good in rushing to your local doctor for pills that could fill your system with all sorts of chemicals. I’m not suggesting you should never visit the doctor, that’s insane. However, in certain instances its good to consider a solution using, for example, plants.

To give an example, my husband had a problem with acid in the joints (called gout). He mixed Sapwood of a lime tree with hot water every day for a month and he cured himself.

3. Your personal attitude has to be positive to be happy in later life

It’s a known fact that what you think is what you get and sometimes if we have too many negative thoughts these thoughts bring negative results.

4. Re finances – Never put ‘all your eggs in one basket’!

I think this is something everyone knows, ie never put all your money into just one option. Your finances should be spread over a number of options. However, generally speaking, depending on where it is, property is one of the best investments. Its important to get good advice from a financial adviser that you know and trust. Ask around amongst your colleagues and friends.

5. How to discover your personal dream

Visualize where you would like to be in 1-3 years from now and take actions to make sure you arrive at your goal. Write down everything that comes to mind on a mind map – cut out pictures and make a scrap book of what you would like life to look like. I promise you that if you are passionate about what you want you will work at it until you find a way.

6. Nurture friendships

Friendships are very valuable and they have to be nurtured. Just small actions mean a lot to friends like remembering birthdays, sending emails when you think of them. Keep them in mind and if you haven’t heard from someone recently pick up the phone to see how they are. The more you give the more you’ll receive and that has been my own experience.

7. Keep track of what is really important

Sometimes and especially in later years things can get a little exaggerated, so don’t sweat on the small stuff which takes care of itself, make sure you prioritize what is most important each day of your life. Stop to smell the roses and thank God for all he is giving each day of our lives. Take heart because the Lord is there to strengthen us and guide us not just for today but always. God Bless.
