The Electric Solar Power System

With the increase in the usage of solar power for providing electricity, many companies have come up with different designs for solar power system. Solar power is one of the most powerful source of energy on this planet. Life on earth cannot survive without sunlight. Man have been using sunlight for there benefit in different ways for many centuries. As time has progressed so have the use of solar power. In early days solar power was mainly used to provide heat but now methods have been invented to convert this solar power into electricity. With the current sources of power like fuel, gasoline and nuclear power are getting expensive these days and they release by products in out atmosphere that are harmful. On the other hand solar energy is completely free and an effective method to generate electricity.
Sunlight falling on one square feet can provide electricity equivalent to 1000 watts. Here are some of the types of solar systems that provide you with electricity.
- grid tie
- off the grid system / stand alone system
- grid tie with back up battery
The grid tie system is an effective one in providing you with electricity. These systems consist of a solar panel and an inverter. Sunlight is absorbed by the panels which are made up silicon along with some other material. The absorbed sunlight causes a negative charge on the panel and this result in current. The inverter converts this DC power into AC power which is then used to power home appliance. These systems also allow you to reduce your utility bills. The off the grid system consists of solar panels, inverter and some controls. These systems are completely independent of any backup power and work on there own. Some of these systems come with a backup battery that stores electricity. These types of systems are mostly used in remote areas. The last type of system, the grid tie with battery is the most effective as it produces its own power, has connection with the local power provider and comes with a backup battery that provides you with electricity in case of a power outage. The solar systems available these days have a long life time and dint need maintenance for some time. Mostly they have an average life of 20 years with major maintenance after 10 years.
Solar energy that is absorbed by the solar panel and stored in the battery is a DC power but most of the home appliances use AC power. In order to convert this power a device known as the inverter is used. The systems available these days come with this inverter and provide you with AC power. The effectiveness of these systems depends on the number of panels or arrays mounted, the exposure of the sun and most importantly the type of semiconductor used. There are different semiconductors available in the market. The difference among is the price, the amount of output they generate and there life. Different solar electric systems are available but you have to choose a system according to your requirement.
