Blessings And Joys Of Adversity

Life is neither a bed of roses nor a pallet of thorns. It is a mixture of light and shades, joys and sorrows, prosperity and adversity and success and failures. Still life is worth living. Wisdom consists not in running away from life but in confronting and courting it. As the saying goes - ‘Life depends on the liver’, it all depends on the person what he/she gets out of life.
Life treats or deals with different persons in diverse ways. Some are rich and some poor; some are born with silver spoon in their mouths and others have humble start. Many make way while the sun shines, while others earn their bread with the sweat of their brow. Some make wealth by foul ways and others have limited stores, for honest earnings are always small. While some are rolling in wealth, many can not afford two square meals a day. The favored and the foul pass their days in prosperity but the hard workers and the handicapped live in adversity.
Who is better of two is the appropriate question here. The wise have known and shown that adversity best discovers, virtue, prosperity, vice. This points out to deep philosophy - the joys and blessings of diversity. Can there be joys in adversity? Do sufferings and pains make persons happy. Is poverty a blessing or a curse? Is there any thing like pleasure of pains? Where is the crux of virtue? In what does real happiness consist? And what is the destined lot of man? The answers to all these questions will separate the grain from the chaff.
It is human nature that man constantly strives to progress and prosper and always tries to show others down. Only a few are grateful and contented. Those who are fortunate and pleased with worldly possessions, seldom cast their glance at the unfortunate and the poor who patiently and silently suffer and arc grateful to their Creator. Life is a big compromise for the unfortunate. They are constantly tossed by the waves of time without finding the calm of the shore. Their one day’s sufferings are greater than the life time sufferings of the rich. Society turns its back upon their distress and they have given them up to hunger and nakedness. These are the people who calmly court adversity.
They become so used to hardships, miseries and sufferings that they no more worry them or make them miserable. Contentment is their greatest possession and secret of joy. It is a great blessing of adversity that ‘unfortunate ‘learn to see comfort through the clouds. Misfortunes come and go but they are neither disheartened nor discouraged.
