Concrete Overlay

Concrete is considered as one of the most strong and durable building materials because the right mix of concrete can withstand different weather conditions and the usual wear and tear that take their toll on some of the less sturdy building materials. However, concrete is not indestructible, as there are a number of factors that can make it very vulnerable to wear and tear. One of these is the porous nature of concrete surfaces that allows moisture to be absorbed by the concrete. However, the wrong mix of concrete, which in effect would make it more porous would allow substantial amounts of water to be absorbed by the concrete and could cause flaking on the concrete surface. Instances like this require that specific measures be taken to remedy the problem — one of the most effective is to install a concrete overlay.

Basement Foundation

The foundation of your house is…. well your foundation. If your foundation was laid out wrong, or you are having problems with water or expansive soils around your foundation, you will see them manifest themselves in other areas of the structure.

If your foundation does not have an adequate water drainage system to drain excess water and you do not have a sufficient water barrier on the exterior basement walls, you will have a damp or soggy basement and subsequently, this will lead to mold.

Proper Construction Methods For A Concrete Driveway

Sub-grade:

As with many home improvement construction projects, what you don’t see is more important to the finished project than what you do see. The preparation of the sub-grade when pouring a concrete driveway is critical, without it, the life of the driveway will be decreased dramatically.
