Last week, I was watching the third part of the movie, Spiderman. There was a message that was conveyed which really impacted me. As he rightly says, you have a right to make your own decision at every point in life. Your current state is a reflection of the decisions that you have taken in the past. Hence, you should not be blaming anyone for your current plight. Keeping this in mind, let us surge forward.

Success of the Marriage lies in Appreciating the Differences

At this point, there is something I would like to share about my parents. As a child, I had never seen a peaceful day go past me. There were arguments and squabbles everyday between my parents. In fact, I would term it as an abridged version of the WWF. I have always seen them cursing each other. But at the end of the day, they loved each other. And they still live happily.

Now, my question is to why they didn’t apply for a divorce when they knew that life was becoming tough for them with those frequent quarrels. If your guess is as good as mine, I think you would have already arrived at the answer: The secret is to hold on to each other.

The very success of marriage lies in the fact of how well you appreciate the differences between the sexes. Man and woman are two different entities inbuilt with completely different ideologies. By nature, it is difficult for them to get along well. If you have been married to your partner for long, trust me that you have understood him or her very well. At this point, you and your partner begin to function as a single entity.

It is my humble request that you do not resort to divorce right in the first place. Give things its due time to settle down and you will find that you have eventually conquered the world. You will reach a point wherein you will really congratulate yourself for not having made that foolish decision. Here are some tips and tricks:

  • Handling Conflicts: If you have been at constant conflict with your spouse over an issue, it is time for you to address them. Both of you need to sit across a table, and demonstrate your views. Be open about all your feelings. Unless you do that, there is no way you will be able to reach a solution.

  • Renounce Ego: Ego is the first enemy of love. The moment ego steps into your relationship, life can become all that miserable. The success in a relationship much depends on placing the other person ahead of your likes and dislikes. Try doing what the other person likes brushing away your own dislikes and you shall notice the difference.

  • Develop Tolerance: As Shakespeare rightly said, mercy is twice blessed. It blesses those who give it and as well those who receive it. If your spouse had committed a mistake, you should not jump at the task of terminating the relationship. Analyse as to what really could have instigated the other person to commit the mistake. For all that you know, you could have been responsible for everything.

  • Spread the Message of Love: If mercy was twice blessed, love is blessed manifold times. Try uttering a word of love and you will notice that your returns will be much higher than what you could have possibly expected. And the word of love that comes out of you should come from deep within your heart and not just an utterance. There is no one in this world who will never succumb to love.

Divorce may not be a Solution

If you are growing impatient over things happening with your current relationship, all that I have got to say is just one thing: Patience is bitter but the fruit is sweet.
