Know What The Readers Want By Asking, 3 Tools To Help You Do It

People ask me how I seem to always know what to write about while they are constantly struggling with just one idea for an article. Others wonder how I know what the readers want to know. Here is the answer and I’ll show you 3 ways to do that with free online tools.

Please don’t underestimate the answer thinking that you have known that. This can lead to procrastination and stop you from progressing. Even if you’ve heard it hundreds of times, now is the time to take action because this method works. The problem is the lack of actions..

I know what to write and what my audience wants to read by asking. It doesn’t have to be a direct question from me to the audience. That’s the beauty of the Internet. Everyone can do quick research and come up with pages of ideas in just one hour.

Here are 3 free online tools that can help you do that:

1. Discussion boards or forums

Find public forums where people in your niche hang out with others. There should be a lot of threads going on. You may start a new thread and ask specific question to gather information about what the participants want to know.

Alternatively, you can just monitor the conversations and take notes on what others have asked and how the forum regulars respond to the discussions.

2. Authority sites

Usually authority sites contain a lot of content for the visitors to consume. If you can locate frequently asked questions (with answers) section, you maybe able to tap into a rich source of ideas for your articles.

Structured contents also are great places to brainstorm for article ideas. You can learn a lot from this kind of sites, even better if they are your direct competitors.

3. Survey

If you already have traffic or in-house list, you could create a simple survey to ask people what they want to know about. LimeSurvey.org is a free (open source) web-based survey tool. You can install on your own server and create unlimited surveys with it.

As you see, you can start without investing a lot of money, even if you don’t have any audience yet.
