Due to one reason or another, people hate the idea about self-promotion. We are taught from our childhood not to toot our own horn or it isn’t nice to brag in front of others. For that reason, marketing seems to be a word that many people try to avoid. How should you position yourself in article marketing?

Some people think that article marketing should have been called article distribution or any less stronger word. I beg to differ though.

Marketing can be fun if you approach it differently. Rather than talking about yourself but none about your prospects, try to help them first. This can be easily done through information. This model works well because people are always seeking for solutions to their problems.

If you demonstrate expertise, show that you know what you’re talking about and are willing to help them, they are all ears. Articles are perfect vehicles to distribute information. Give away solid information and avoid hard selling in the body content.

This may sound counter intuitive, but it actually helps you later in the selling process because you’re building credibility up front. In fact, I suggest that you dedicate the entire article including the resource box to do nothing but help the readers.

In the resource box, give away more information so they feel good about reading your article. Later when you educate them enough that your solution can really help them, closing the sale is very easy.

In a lot of cases, customers bypass the product sales letter right to the order page because they already know what they need to know to make the buying decision.

Marketing is about getting your message out. Blatant promotion scares people off, but if you actually help your prospects in your marketing, it become a word that should be keep close to your heart.
